KCPD Detention Officer Charged With Promoting Prostitution

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A detention officer for the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department has been charged with promoting prostitution.
The Jackson County prosecutor charged Jacques A. Baker, 23, with promoting prostitution after his arrest in Independence. Baker has worked as a detention officer for the KCPD since 2008, police officials said.
Police said Baker has been suspended without pay. None of the criminal acts that he is accused of happened in any police facility, police officials said.
The KCPD conducted a complete background check on Baker prior to his hiring, and he had no criminal history or indication that he would be engaged in criminal activity.
The Independence Police Department and the KCPD’s Vice Section investigated the case.
