KC police jailer accused of prostitution ring

A police department jailer and a woman he lived with ran a prostitution ring out of their suburban Kansas City home that masqueraded as an escort service, police said.
Jacques Baker, 23, who has been a detention officer in the Kansas City Police Department for two years, and Samantha Thongkham, 28, were charged Wednesday with felony promoting prostitution. Police said Baker has been suspended without pay.

Later that month, a woman who was arrested in a prostitution sting told investigators that she previously worked for Baker and Thongkham.

The detective said Thongkham told her employees of Candy Entertainment were required to sign contracts stating the company does not promote prostitution, but added that the girls make a lot of money prostituting.
